Sir,
I am directed by the Secretary of State for
India to acknowledge the receipt of your letter No.
9.6.
21311, dated 6th July, 1909, in which you ask that
the Government of India may be requested by telegraph
to suspend action on the application made to them in
1907 for the loan of an Indian engineer for
employment on the British section of the Canton
Kowloon Railway.
I am
directed to enclose herewith for
the information of the Secretary of State for the
Colonies a copy of a telegram which was sent to the
Government of India on the subject on the 8th ins tant
and of the reply which has been received, and I am
to enquire what answer Lord Crewe wishes to be made
to the latter.
